How to Maintain Lace Wigs Made from Raw Indian Hair: Washing, Storage, Lace Care & Lifespan

A lace wig made from raw Indian temple hair can last two to three years — if you treat it like the real human hair it is. Arrow Exim is a manufacturer and supplier of 100% unprocessed raw South Indian temple hair, operating our own factory at #356/10 Boopathy Nagar, Industrial Estate, Keelkattalai, Chennai 600117 since 2011. How often should I wash a raw Indian hair lace wig?

Every 7–10 wears, or sooner if product builds up. Use lukewarm water and a sulfate-free, paraben-free shampoo, working from roots to ends in one direction without rubbing the lace. Follow with a moisturizing conditioner on the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the knots so they stay tight.

How do I protect the lace and knots?

Never scrub, wring, or brush wet lace. Apply conditioner below the lace line only, rinse with cool water, and pat dry with a microfiber towel. If you use adhesive, remove it with an alcohol-based lace remover, not by pulling. Bleached knots should be re-sealed with a knot sealer every 2–3 months.

Can I use heat and color on a raw Indian hair wig?

Yes — this is the main advantage over synthetic or processed wigs. Keep tools under 180°C (356°F), always use a heat protectant, and have bleaching or coloring done by a professional so the lace and knots are protected.

How should I store the wig at night and between wears?

Remove the wig nightly, brush gently from ends to roots with a wide-tooth comb or loop brush, and store it on a wig stand or mannequin head away from sunlight. For travel, keep it in the original box or a satin bag. Rotating two wigs doubles the lifespan of both.

How do I stop tangling and dryness?

Raw hair has no silicone coating, so it needs moisture: a leave-in conditioner or light argan oil on the ends twice a week, a deep-conditioning mask monthly, and a satin bonnet or pillowcase if you sleep in the wig. Detangle before washing, never after.

How long will a raw Indian hair lace wig last?

With this routine, 2–3 years of regular wear is typical, and many of our salon customers report longer. Processed or steam-textured wigs usually last 6–12 months. If your wig sheds or tangles heavily within the first month, contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos — genuine defects are replaced free.
