Raw Indian Hair Bundles – Textures, Grades and How to Choose

Arrow Exim makes raw Indian temple hair bundles in our own factory in Chennai, and has done since 2011. This page explains the four textures we sell, what hair grades really mean, and how many bundles you need, so you can choose with confidence.

What "raw" Indian temple hair means

Raw hair keeps its cuticle intact and has never been chemically processed. Our hair comes from South Indian temple donors, is sorted by donor and made into wefted bundles in-house. Because the cuticle is intact, it can be heat-styled, coloured and washed repeatedly, and it returns to its natural pattern after washing.

Our four textures

  • Natural straight: rarely bone-straight, with a slight natural body like healthy blow-dried hair. Best for sleek styles, clients with relaxed or straightened hair, colouring and heat work.

  • Natural wavy (body wave): a soft, loose S-shaped wave and the most common temple hair texture. Suits the widest range of clients; flattens with an iron, curls easily and air-dries into soft waves.

  • Deep wave: a tight, defined wave with plenty of visible volume. Best for glamorous installs and photos; needs more moisture and careful detangling.

  • Curly: a springy spiral with the most volume. Best for curly wigs and blending textured hair; needs gentle detangling and regular deep conditioning.

Curly hair costs more because natural curly donors are scarcer.

What hair grades really mean

Grades such as 9A, 10A and 12A are marketing labels. No independent body certifies them, and one vendor's 12A can be the same hair as another vendor's 9A. Judge hair on what you can check instead: single-donor source, intact cuticle, how raw it is, fullness at the ends, and honest bundle weight (a standard bundle is 100 g). Ask for a sample and test it.

How many bundles do you need?

Each standard bundle weighs about 100 g whatever its length. For a sew-in with closure or frontal:

  • 10–14 inch: 2 bundles

  • 16–18 inch: 2–3 bundles

  • 20–22 inch: 3 bundles

  • 24–26 inch: 3–4 bundles

  • 28–30 inch: 4 bundles minimum

  • 32 inch and over: 4–5 bundles

Use the upper end of the range for straight hair, the middle for body wave, and the lower end for deep wave and curly, because curls hang shorter than their stretched length. For wigs, a 150% density needs about 3 bundles up to 22 inches and 4 bundles at 24–30 inches; 180% needs 4 and 5.

Heat styling and care

  • Flat iron: 150–180°C (300–360°F) for fine or wavy hair, up to 193°C (380°F) for thick, curly hair.

  • Curling iron: 140–170°C (280–340°F). Never exceed 205°C (400°F).

  • Bleached 613 blonde: 140–160°C (280–320°F) at most.

  • Always use a heat protectant, and limit full heat sessions to one or two a week.

  • Wash every 15–20 wears with sulfate-free shampoo, deep condition every two to three weeks, and store spare bundles in a satin bag away from sunlight.

With this care, raw Indian sew-in wefts last about 1–3 years.

Buying bundles wholesale

Our wholesale minimum is 2.5 kg, which is 25 bundles of 100 g. You can order a single bundle as a sample first.

FAQ

Which texture sells best? Natural wavy (body wave) suits the widest range of clients and gets the fewest complaints, so it is the usual first choice.

Can I colour or bleach raw Indian hair? Yes. The intact cuticle lets it take colour and lift well, but keep heat lower on bleached hair.

Is deep wave natural? Some deep wave is natural, but a lot of it on the market is steam-processed for consistency. Ask your supplier which they are selling.

How long do raw bundles last? Raw Indian sew-in wefts last about 1–3 years with proper care.
